Universal Spark Generator,
The Spark Generator produces high voltage pulses at variable frequencies.
The precisely timed sparks leave a permanent series of dots, like paw prints in the snow.
This recording method is useful for dynamics experiments, since the record is permanent and there is no frictional drag on the moving body.
On an Air Track, the spark paper attaches along the bottom edge of the track.
A short piece of wire attaches to the glider with an insulated nylon screw.
A trolley wire stretches between the end stops with insulated hardware.
The spark jumps from the wire on the glider, then through the spark paper to the grounded track, leaving a mark for each pulse.
